I went into the air recently to capture the military training areas from above, for my book of course. It was a bit foggy, but the sun was filtered nicely. This autumn was one of those beautiful ones, with vibrant colors and the leaves stayed on the trees for a long time, so we could enjoy it extensively! And that is what I did from the sky. I think it is just to say we had a ‘Dutch Indian Summer’ this year.

Dutch skies make beautiful pictures … and beautiful paintings. The Dutch masters of painting knew how to get these typical skies onto the canvas and it made them world famous. For a photographer it is a challenge to produce these deep and full colors on a screen. However, some days the sky is just right. And when it is a picturesque location with a historical character, the ingredients are there. That was the case at the Ginkelse Heide. With a little extra pixellation and a somewhat dramatic tone, I painted this image.
