If you think about it, most encounters with mammals are not more than a glimpse of a fleeing silhoutte. They hear, smell or see you before you can see them. If you can walk silently and are smart enough to walk opposite the wind direction, luck may be on your side. So it was on this morning at the military shooting area ISK Harskamp. Red deer is very common here, as they know that they are safe in the shooting zone, because there is hardly any disturbance from people. Well, except for the odd nature photographer. I nearly stumbled upon this group of young deer with an adult female. For a while they looked at me, wondering what creature was walking around at this time of day.
