Wet feet

As a nature photographer life is not always easy. Nature is not to be directed: you have to be at the right spot at the right time and even then some luck is welcome. Take for example the Moor Frog. For a few days every year, usually in the last weeks of March, the males are colored deep blue as a result of the start of the mating period. But the exact timing is always unknown. Moreover, they are very shy en it takes patience to get them in the frame. And, I had set myself the goal to capture it in a military training area. For two springs I had tried in vain to take this photo. This spring I was at the Vughtse Heide en now I succeeded. My waders were flooded and I had an aching back because I had been standing in the water for over an hour. It is not always easy, but the satisfaction is great.

Cheers, Niels
