‘Tankhagedis’

At last I have succeeded! After two years of preparations and trial-and-error I have captured the, maybe ultimate, symbiosis of military use and nature. Let’s introduce this case. On the military training area Leusderheide a population of approximately 24.000 sand lizards have their domicile, probably the largest population in The Netherlands. This massive occurrence is for a great part due to the design and the use for armored vehicles and tanks. The vehicles make use of the numerous sand roads and barren plains and maintain the openness and dynamics. The lizards depend on the open sand for laying their eggs in and moreover, they benefit from the large length of borders – the edges between heathland and open sand. For years I envisioned an image with a sand lizard and a rolling tank. In 2011 I put a lot of effort in making the image, but in vain. To cut it short, yesterday I did it! Here you see one of the images, in this case with a female and a CV-90. The best images are with a stunning green male, but these I will publish in the book! There I will also explain how I did it. Follow the book on MissieNatuur.
Cheers, Niels
