Ik ben in het bos achter mijn huis en het is alsof de mist langzaam om de stammen van de wilgen kronkelt. Behalve het geluid van de druppels die van de takken vallen is er geen geluid te horen. Wat een geweldig fotografie weer: mistig, grijs, windstil. Het licht is gedempt, zonder harde schaduwen. Alles is vochtig waardoor het contrast toeneemt en kleuren meer verzadigd worden. Door te overbelichten creëer ik een mystieke sfeer.

I am in the wood behind my house and it’s like the fog is embracing the willow trees. Except for the sound of the drops falling from the branches, there is no sound. How wonderful is the weather for photography: foggy, grey, no wind. The light is dimmed, without any hard shadows. Everything is moist creating more contrast and saturated colors. By overexposure I create a mystic atmosphere.

Ik ben aan het experimenteren met nachtfotografie. Het was afgelopen week raak, met een volle maan en mooie wolkenluchten. Het is een kwestie van uitproberen wat de juiste sluitertijd is. Ik was op zoek naar het effect van de wolken die tot strepen vervagen. Gelukt dus. Ik ga hier komend jaar ongetwijfeld meer gebruik van maken.

I am experimenting with night photography. Last week it was the right time with a full moon and clouds passing by. It is a matter of trial and error to find out what is the right exposure. I was looking for the airbrush-effect of the clouds turning into vague lines. I succeeded. I will be doing more of this the coming year.
