The konik horses in the Blauwe Kamer are always a rewarding photo subject. The social interaction within the herd, makes me observe them for hours at a time. Here I witnessed a young stallion and his mother, sharing a caress. I finished the scene with a frame of fresh leaves of the hawthorn…. almost mawkish, but nature does not recognize this word.

Forced to refrain from distant photo trips, I restrain myself to photographing in my ‘backyard’ the Blauwe Kamer. And it is a blessing in disguise, it makes me looking for opportunities in a restricted area. I notice that I am drawn to the great white egrets and mute swans. Their white plumage contrasts with the dark winter landscape and provides creative opportunities. Also the gracious appearance gives the photos an extra dimension. Adding mist, blurring and movement makes an artwork with a spiritual aspect. And that’s what I want to convey with my photos: the spirit of nature!
